Why Does CADS SMART Portal Not Allow For A Haunch At The Ridge/apex?

Why does CADS SMART Portal not allow for a haunch at the ridge/apex?

The presence of a haunch at the apex/ridge of a conventional portal frame has no effect on the collapse load of the frame because plastic hinges always form some distance away from this position.

The effect on deflections is negligible. Therefore for simplicity the option to have an apex/ridge haunch was not included in SMART Portal. However, when it comes to connection design a small haunch may be required at the apex/ridge if the frame is tightly designed. This can be easily achieved. After export from SMART Portal to CADS SWMC the connection will appear initially without a haunch. In the Connection type/preselector there is an option to add a haunch if so required.
