CADS 50th Anniversary
CADS 50th Anniversary celebrations at The Gherkin in London
What an incredible day celebrating CADS’ 50th Anniversary at the Gherkin in London. Thanks to all of our customers and colleagues who attended, and a special thanks to our guest speaker Ed Gillespie. It might have been cloudy, but what a special place to celebrate such a special achievement.
CADS is celebrating it’s 50th Anniversary this year and we wanted to share the journey we have been since the 1970s.
1970s-1980s: Early Beginnings and Foundational Software
- Foundation: CADS was established over 50 years ago, during a period when computer-aided design (CAD) was beginning to revolutionise the construction and engineering industries.
- Initial Offerings: Early software solutions focused on automating manual design processes, which were traditionally labor-intensive and time-consuming.
1990s: Development of Specialised Software
- RebarCAD: One of CADS’ flagship products, RebarCAD, was introduced to streamline reinforced concrete (RC) detailing and bar bending scheduling. It quickly became a popular tool among engineers for its precision and efficiency in handling reinforcement designs (CADS India) (CADS Consulting).
- Integration with Standards: During this decade, CADS also began aligning its software with industry standards such as British Standards (BS) and later Eurocodes, ensuring compliance and widespread applicability.
2000s: Expansion and Global Reach 2000s:
- Global Expansion: CADS expanded its operations globally, establishing a significant presence in markets like the UK, India, the UAE, and the US. The company grew its customer base to over 6,000 clients across 70 countries (CADS Consulting).
- Software Diversification: The company diversified its product line to include solutions for steelwork design, composite design, masonry, timber, and geotechnical applications. This diversification allowed CADS to cater to a broader range of engineering needs (CADS Global) (CADS UK).
2010s: Integration with BIM and Advanced Technologies
- BIM Integration: CADS integrated Building Information Modeling (BIM) processes into its software offerings. Products like CADS RC3D for Revit enabled users to create detailed 3D models and perform clash detection, enhancing the accuracy and efficiency of construction projects (CADS UK).
- Innovation and Updates: Continuous updates and enhancements were made to existing software, incorporating advanced analysis tools and improving user interfaces to keep pace with technological advancements in the construction industry.
2020s: Current Era and Future Directions
- Digital Transformation: CADS has embraced digital transformation trends, incorporating cloud-based solutions and mobile applications to facilitate real-time collaboration and data access from anywhere (CADS Global) (CADS India).
- Sustainability and Efficiency: Recent developments focus on sustainability, aiming to optimize material usage and reduce waste, aligning with global efforts towards greener construction practices (CADS India).
- Customer-Centric Approach: CADS continues to emphasise customer support and training, ensuring that users can fully leverage the capabilities of their software. Testimonials highlight the software’s user-friendly nature and the excellent support provided by CADS teams globally (CADS India) (CADS Consulting).
